MV Agusta motorcycle recalls: 1 NHTSA campaign

Stop-riding campaigns

NHTSA flags these as do-not-drive or park-outside. If your VIN falls inside one, the bike should not be ridden or parked in a garage until a dealer has fixed it.

    Models: BRUTALE 800 DRAGSTER RC

MV Agusta USA, LLC (MV Agusta) is recalling certain 2018 MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RC, F3 800RC, and F3 800 motorcycles. These vehicles are equipped with a fork axle carrier that may have damaged threads which can cause excessive play of the wheel clamping screw.

Risk: Wheel clamping screws that experience excessive play can cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: MV Agusta will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the threaded holes in the fork axle carriers, and if necessary replace the fork leg, free of charge. Owners are advised to not ride their motorcycles until the repair has been performed. The recall began July 20, 2018. Owners may contact MV Agusta customer service at 1-215-781-1770. MV Agusta's number for this recall is 18RC02.

Before the next long ride

A recall is a dealer job, but the pre-trip check around it is yours. MV Agusta bikes still need the same roll of tools once you are out of range of one.

MV Agusta recall FAQ

How do I check whether my MV Agusta has an open recall?
Enter the 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or the Transport Canada recalls database if you are in Canada. The VIN check is the only answer that is specific to your bike: this page lists campaigns for the brand, but whether yours is inside a campaign's build range and whether the work has already been done are both VIN-level facts.
Does an MV Agusta recall cost anything to fix?
No. A safety recall is repaired free of charge by an authorised dealer, however old the bike is and however many owners it has had. If you already paid for the same repair before the recall was announced, ask the manufacturer about reimbursement.
How many recalls does an MV Agusta have?
1 motorcycle and scooter campaign is on file with NHTSA for model years 2015–2027, the most recent reported on 10 July 2018. A campaign covers a build range rather than a single bike, so the count says more about how many models the brand sells in the US than about build quality.
Can I ride a MV Agusta with an open recall?
It depends on the campaign. NHTSA flags the serious ones as "do not drive" or "park outside", and those are marked on this page — for anything flagged, stop riding and call a dealer. For the rest, book the work at the next service, and get it done before a long or remote trip rather than after it.
What gets recalled most on an MV Agusta?
Suspension accounts for the largest share — 1 of the 1 campaign on this page. That is a useful pre-trip inspection hint, not a verdict: check that area yourself before a long ride even if your VIN is clear.
