The honest answer for a Yamaha is short: metric spanners and sockets in 8, 10, 12, 14, 19 mm, hex keys in 4, 5, 6, 8 mm, T30 Torx bits, a JIS cross-head driver, and a tyre repair kit that matches your wheels. Wheels are tube-type on spoked rims, so the tyre kit is levers, a spare tube and patches — a plug kit on its own is useless. JIS, not Phillips
The cross-head screws on a Yamaha are JIS. The two standards look identical in a photograph, but a Phillips driver sits proud in a JIS screw and is designed to cam out under torque. On the soft screws holding engine covers, fairings and clamps that means a rounded head, and a rounded head at the roadside means a drill you do not have.
A JIS #2 bit costs almost nothing and fits the driver you already carry. Look for the small dimple stamped next to the cross on the screw head — that is the JIS mark.
Tyre repair: tubes, not plugs
Yamaha bikes run tube-type spoked wheels, so a puncture means pulling the wheel, breaking the bead and either patching the tube or fitting the spare. A tubeless plug kit does nothing for you here.
That is the heaviest part of the kit and the part people leave at home: two or three levers, a rear tube (it will fit a front rim in an emergency), a patch kit with glue that has not dried out, and something to lift the wheel off the ground. Practise the change in the garage once, timed — it is the difference between a 40-minute stop and a recovery truck.

Chain slack is also the adjustment you will actually make on the road, so the kit needs two spanners for the adjuster locknuts as well as the axle tool — a socket alone will not hold the locknut while you turn the adjuster.
